Kirtland

We arrived in Kirtland in the evening of the first day. We were late for the last tour but the missionary's took us around anyway. It was very peaceful and there was a particularly special moment in the upper room of the Newell K. Whitney Store as the moon shone through the window.
But our first stop was the sawmill where we learned about the innovative water wheel and all about potash and pearlash.

We learned all about Bro. Whitney and his wife, they were quite extrordinary people.
The Whitney Store.

The next morning we went back and visited the Kirtland Temple before we headed on.

We learned the origins of the sayings: hit the hay and dead as a doornail...among others
