Esplanade and the Storm

On July 3rd all of our friends met at the Esplanade for the rehersal of the Boston Pops 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. We arrived late by concert goer standards (3 hours early) and got lovely seats right behind the cameras. You could kind of make out the people on stage through the legs and tripods of the camera men.

Addi, waiting for the show to begin.

Then, just an hour before the show is to begin they announce over the loud speaker that there was a severe rainstorm that would be passing over us shortly. They had "shelters" set up aka a tunnel on Storrow Dr. just across the street. Some people in our party were scared away by the news and others were excited to show their endurance and brave the storm. In the end we came to a compromise; wait for people to start packing up, set our stuff out in a better spot and head for the tunnel.

(For a live broadcast from the tunnel please see the side bar.)

Heading out of the tunnel after the all-clear

In the end we were rewarded not with fireworks because it was just a rehersal but with confetti...which was still pretty cool.
