Sunday Walk

It was a beautiful day today so we thought we'd go for a walk in a local reserve.
When we got there I pointed out the trail but Addi insisted that we just climb straight through the woods....it's more sporting that way.

Addi the 'explorer' hacking her way through the brush.

The reward, a clear pond and beautiful trees in their fall clothes.

We came upon a small unexpected stream that was very fun leap over to safety.

3rd Annual Wood Family Halloween Party

Disclaimer: There was some major user error with the camera...just a warning.

We like to get a small group together and have a little Halloween party with classic games, Chili and of course my caramel apples. Thanks everyone for coming!
Addi getting down and dirty bobbing for apples

Victory!
Landon hooks a good one!
Brooke ropes one in as well!
Hazel getting a little assistance to reel one in.
Bobbing for donuts is always a crowd pleaser.

Now the Dad's have a go!

Winner: Erin Q. Palmer

(you should have seen how proud Landon was when his dad won.)

The Most Wonderful Time of The Year

I love fall! and I LOVE the tart apples that I turn into delectable treats! (and also friends to share them with)

From these humble beginnings...

you can create these beauties.

I use my Aunt Cherie's homemade caramel recipe then dip them in white chocolate and oreos or pecans and they are AMAZING!
I would give you all the recipe but then I'd have to kill you.

She'll be coming!

So...exciting news! My Mom is coming to visit!
Anone who has talked to me for any length of time has heard about her and how incredible and crazy she is.
She hasn't been out here for almost 2 years and she's never been here alone so Addi is very excited for some one on one Grandma time.
She'll be here for a week and I think I have already planned too many activities to fit in that time.
Anyway, we're excited!

Stone Zoo

The zoo was a hit for FFT (Friday Field Trip). The kids had a fun time running from animal to animal but I really think that they all just like hanging out together no matter where they are.
Those are Llama's in the back

Mr. Jack-o-Lantern

Mr. Jack-o-Lantern is very round and fat,

He has a little candle, it's underneath his hat.

It makes his face look shiny and very, very bright,

When he winks and smiles at me on spooky Halloween night!

This Week in October

It was just a basic, low key week here in October.
It was warm enough to eat lunch outside though and the kids thought that was pretty cool.

On the way to Joy school.

A Saturday costume party gives you a sneak peek at what Addi will be for Halloween.

Family Pictures

It is not possible for me to not gush about the AWESOME photographer that took our family pictures.
The one and only Saydi did such an awesome job, that picking out just a few photos for the blog is just terrible, I feel like I'm not doing her justice to just show a few.
I'm so glad that she didn't think I was crazy when I was describing the urban almost deteriorated look I wanted. She is so artistic and she made them look SOOOOOO GOOD! I swear we are not this cute in real life...well Addi is.

Anyway, I'll be using these pictures for everything from Christmas Cards to birthday presents so watch out!

Topsfield Fair

"America's Oldest Fair"...at least that's what the stamp on my hand said.

We had a great time at the fair for our Friday Field Trip.
We petted many barnyard animals and watched racing pigs.
The comedian dairy farmer was...horrible! but the kids couldn't get enough so we endured.
We learned about bees and alpaca wool, went on two rides and shared a giant chocolate chip cookie on the way home.
All in all a great day especially for Addi coming out with a "barn buddy" ribbon for brushing a baby calf.

Watching a sheep being sheered
(yes that is Theo almost over the fence, that is a new little trick he's developing
he can almost climb the chain link fence in the park...not good for me.)

Addi looking suspiciously at the Alpacas...I don't think she's ever seen one before.

Merry-go-round...her favorite ride.

All aboard the last ride of the day.

Leaves

One of the best things about living in New England is Fall!
The leaves are gorgeous, the weather is perfect, there are apple cider donuts...need I say more?
(yes this is a shameless plug for visitors)
Addi had a great time playing in the leaves at the park.
