Bubbles

Joy School girls having fun with bubbles.

It's still cold here but we're thinking warm thoughts and we can't wait to spend more time outdoors!

Easter

The Easter Bunny comes to our house on Saturday and this year the Easter Bunny outdid himself. He left a shiny new tricycle just in time for spring and summer cruising. He also left swimming suits for summer.

The Easter Bunny really CAME!!!!

Easter Egg Hunt

There was fun had by all at the 2nd annual play group Easter Egg Hunt. We had to have it indoors this year because it was cold and very windy outside. The children didn't seem to mind however...candy is candy and not having to bundle up to get it is even better.

Ain't no tunnel deep enough to keep me from that egg.

Bucket o' Eggs

Ill gotten booty

Wasting no time breaking open those eggs and digging in!

The girls eventually took cover under this chalk board while the boys ran around like wild animals working off their sugar high.

Feeling Amorous

Before dance class began last week Addi and Hazel were pretending to be a prince and princess at a ball. They were so cute and very delighted with watching themselves dance and twirl in the mirror. I took a few pictures and as I was when I put my camera away that's when it happened...

...I hesitate to write this because I haven't informed Hazel's mother but when I looked up the prince and princess were doing the requisite end of show kiss! I quickly broke the couple up and explained that that's what Mommy's and Daddy's do and girlfriends only kiss on cheeks. They seemed very happy with that explaination and we had a very fun, smooch free dance class.

Tea for Two

Ever since Addi got her "real" tea set from Hazel we have been throwing tea parties like they're going out of style. On this particular occasion her cousin Ashley stayed after dance class and they dressed up in their make-believe best and had a lovely tea (hot chocolate)party. They were so cute, and hilarious trying to be "ladies" ....one lump or two my dear?

Whistling Dixie

It all started with a Joy School lesson about trying new things. The lesson said that you can try something even if you're not good at it and if you practice you could get better. Well it's true and Addi's proof. She has been wanting to learn how to whistle for a while because she hears me whistle a lot...it's an annoying habit and probably not good for wrinkles around my lips. But anyway she would try and try to do it but couldn't. Then one day I pick her up from Joy School and I hear a faint sound. Is that you whistling Addi? and sure enough it was. I asked her how she did it and looking at me like maybe I'm the one that should be going to Joy School said...I just tried mom. Since then she's been whistling almost constantly pleased to perform for friends and strangers alike. So here's a little clip of our whistler in action

Spring Break

It has been Randall's spring break this week so we've been able to spend a lot of family time together. Here are a few of the things we've been up to.

A DAY AT THE PARK

It finally go warm enough to go to the park this week. Addi was in heaven, it's been ages since she's been on a swing or down the slide.

SUGARING

Out here in the good 'ole North East people take their sugaring seriously. There was a big two-day sugaring event at a state park nearby, we planned to go with Addi's friend Jordan and when we got there the event had been canceled because of the rain. But the "sugar shack" was open and they let us come in and watch how they turn sap into syrup in the "evaporator" and we even got to taste some syrup straight out of the spigot...YUM!

Addi and Randall are hard to see through the steam of the evaporator

The sap starts out clear and by the time it gets to this last stop before the spigot its dark syrup

Addi and Jordan keeping warm by the wood fuled evaporator

I thought this picture was so cute!
You can see the buckets on the trees catching the sap.

Parenting and Pony Rides

Last Saturday we went with a bunch of our friends to a traveling petting zoo. I have to say that I am not a PETA person but I do feel bad for these poor creatures and I'm a little ashamed that I went, but you start to get desperate for entertainment after the 4th solid month of freezing tempratures.

So, I was expecting it to be only animals but as you will see it was more like a back woods carnival being run by any Tom, Dick and convict they could find with a few farm animals sprinkled about. The rides were "vintage" and by that I mean they were not made to look old they were just...old. When we first walked in Addi went into hyperdrive, she was so overwhelmed by the rides (not noticing the animals at all) that her little pointer finger couldn't keep up with her eyes and carnival desires (I couldn't help myself). At this point I should have done what my wiser friend did. She told her kids that they were there to see the animals and they could go on one ride. But alas I put myself at the mercy of a child being over-endulged with no one to blame but myself. It wasn't long before Addi ditched her friends and was hopping from one ride to the next and barely taking it in before pointing and tugging to go to the next ride. I tried to divert her attention to the animals and her friends, to no avail. To say the least I was relieved when the tickets ran out.

All is not lost I believe, Addi did have a great time and I learned a lot about how to be a better parent with grounded children, thanks to my good friends who have them.

Merry-G0-Round

Addi's first and favorite ride, we should have stopped there.

Same ride, Hazel and her dad jumped on, at the last second which made it really fun for the girls.

The UniCow
This cow caused much suspicion among our friends questioning whether the horn is natural or an implant. I think it's being held on by the bridle, kind of like the antler that the Grinch strung on his poor little dog Max
