Growing Up

Addi can't wait to grow up she wants to learn and do everything RIGHT NOW!! and with her determined spirit she accomplishes much more than I ever thought she could. Her most recent accomplishment is doing her own hair. She's been able to do clips for a while but she has just mastered the pony tail and the "messy bun" and with the bow tying she just learned her new favorite game is beauty shop...luckily I have a very hard head, I like the pulling actually. Here she is doing the dishes with her apron on (the job she feels the most important doing) and showing off her hair do.

Skills she has accomplished: (in no particular order)

whistling

snapping (fingers)

tying shoes...bows of any variety

hair doing

open her own car door

jump roping (you can checkout the video on our YouTube channel)

Skills she hopes to master soon:

winking

braiding

using sharp knives

driving

Life is Beachy

I have always said that I have never had an original idea in my life and I just copy cool people. And it remains true today. I saw on my friends blog that they went to the beach a few weeks ago and had a marvelous time. I didn't know about winter beaching but I'm glad that we tried it because we did have a wonderful time.

We waited until the perfect day (48 degrees...seriously this was a good day) and we all ran to our heart's content. I was just telling my mother that in the winter sometimes I feel so shut-in that I feel like my legs are always bent. It was nice to stretch those girls out!

It was also nice for the kids to go wild and not have a mess to clean up afterwards.

When Randall saw the pictures he said Addi looked like a pilgrim...she does look a little puritanical.

getting a closer look.

Everyday Cowgirl

Addi wants to be just like her Aunt Amy the cowgirl. She likes to wear the cowgirl hat that she wore when she was in a real rodeo with Amy. I hope this doesn't mean she'll be asking for a horse next. She wore this hat to Joy School for a week, she thought she was hot stuff.
As I was posting this Addi was strumming her guitar and singing this song.

"Everyday cowgirls are having fun in the forest..in the foreeeest!"

Addi's Blog

Addi wanted a blog when her bff Hazel got one. Then when Toby and Ben got one she could not live another moment without a blog. {I hope this is not a sign of things to come, Addi wanting what her friends have and then me giving in...I guess it's OK this time, Hazel and Toby are good friends to emulate}
So you can check out Addi's Fuzz Ball World {the best title she could come up with after several minutes of deliberation} at addiw.blogspot.com

Day o' Love

Nothing says I love you like warm heart shaped pancakes with syrup...at least in our family. You can never be too excited about decorating valentine cookies

My tulips from Randall.Addi got a boquet from Randall as well and she LOVES it! She feels like such a lady.

My Alter Ego

So a few weeks ago my friend mentioned that I remind her of an actor on Saturday Night Live...well not the actor per se, but the crazy characters she plays. I didn't know who she was so I looked up a couple of clips and I'm both flattered and a little sheepish because Kristen Wiig is acting and that's how I act.

(I'm not going to pretend to be as cute as that girl but to my credit this is at the end of a very sweaty 4th of July.)

She's got SKILLS!

This week Addi has learned to tie a bow! She practiced and practiced and now no string is safe from becoming a delightful, possibly lopsided, probably loose bow.

Magic with a BANG!

So this video is really long and it is very much like a hokey family home video because it IS a hokey family home video but if you can just make it to the middle you might get a surprise.

Mexican Bean

Getting exercise in the winter can be tricky but thanks to Grandma K. we're getting our daily workouts...well Addi is... I think I'd break the trampoline.
(but for the record I have started my work-out regimen and its working out swimmingly...no pun intended)
Her favorite tricks are the splits and criss-cross, she'll also pull out a no-handed spin every once in a while.

(please excuse the blurry pictures I need a sports lens for this)

Two Conversations

Me: Addi, do you think you have a pretty mom?
Addi: No.
Me: Oh, what do you think about me then.
Addi: You're old and wrinkled.

(That's what you get when you fish for a compliment.)

As I was standing on a bar stool to dust the light fixtures...

Addi: Mom, don't fall of and crack your head open...I need a mom and a dad.

(good to know she'll take an old, wrinkled mom over none at all)

Bathing Beauty

Addi & Theo

I think most everyone knows about Theo, but sometimes I'm surprised by people...like my brother who only put it together last week. So, to clarify, Theo is a little boy I watch during the week. Lately he and Addi have started interacting more. They used to just ignore eachother and lead paralell lives but since Theo has started talking a lot more Addi has accepted him into the realm of english (as opposed to baby) speakers.
They still have their tussles but I often find them talking sweetly to eachother and if one has offended the other they'll hug after they make up. Also, Theo appreciates a kiss, but beware, Theo is an open mouthed lip kisser!
