Christmas 2009

We celebrated Christmas Eve with our good friends and made a day of it.

The girls played with our newest and unbreakable Nativity set while the parents talked and prepared food.
Then, everyone dressed up in their costumes for our Jerusalem Dinner (a tradition blatantly stolen from my good friend Saydi)
The food was awesome! We tried to keep it traditional with fattoush, lentil stew, cumin chicken, humus, and flat bread.

Then, after dinner we re-enacted Luke 2...of course.
That's when the carol singing began...by the end it was quite a show!
After a quick drive to a crazy light display we all went to our homes to prepare for Santa.

We got in our cozy-matchy-jammies...
and set out snacks for Santa and Rudolph.
Santa heard that Addi had to leave her dollhouse in Boston so he put one of his best elves to work making a doll-mat where she could use all her dollhouse furniture and it doesn't take up too much space!
Addi is a deliberate un-wrapper, a trait she inherited from her mother who was teased for
that same quality. She also loves to color...just like her Mom.

Gingerbread Houses

Last night we had our good friends over to make gingerbread houses (and so the Mom's could watch the Sing Off results show).
I didn't get too many pictures because these girls wanted to, and I quote: "get down to business."
We're so happy these girls moved in! Addi was the only girl in her primary class and she was getting lonesome for some girl time.
Finished Product.

Vogue

I just finished sewing the pajama pants for our little family Christmas and I realized that (at least for mine) I should have altered the pattern a little more....luckily I'm not averse to low-riding.
Here they are for your enjoyment.
(public tom foolery must run in the family check out my brother's family Christmas card shoot...very snuggie!)

Thanksgiving Flashback

I know christmas is nearly upon us but I guess it's better late than never with some Thanksgiving stuff.
Here is our Thankful tree...Addi was very excited about this. We got to the point where we had to set a three leaf per day limit and just talk about all of the other things we were thankful for.
The last pre-school day before Thanksgiving was my snack day. Addi and I decided to create a Plymouth-ish scene. To enjoy while the children snacked. This is made of recycled items (Costco box, milk carton, yogurt carton)
Items found around our place/park (pine cones, sticks, leaves, rocks)
And everything else I found in my craft drawers.
...oh yeah and a LOT of hot glue!

In the Shop

I just put these up in my shop this morning. They're both about the same size (5-8) This is kind of a test to see if people like them or not. Everyone has different tastes you know and I could be totally out there.

The Toothpaste Bandit Has Struck Again...

One night well after Addi was asleep I went into the bathroom to get ready for bed. I couldn't find my toothbrush in it's usual spot and as I looked around I found both mine and Randall's toothbrushes carefully laid out side by side and "pre-pasted." Addi snuck into our bathroom after brushing her own teeth and set up this little surprise.
Since then she's done it a couple more times and it's always a surprise because she'll never show any signs of mischief or excitement about her little secret service... Until morning when I say that an elf must have pasted my toothbrush and then she can't hold it in anymore and she'll confess.

Olivia Quilt

I haven't had a lot of time to blog lately...or anything really to blog about. I've been feverishly working on the aprons (and there's only one left I can't belive it thank you!) and thinking about and sewing more things to put in the shop (coming soon). And I also am working on my pre-school fundraising obligaton by making things to auction.
That's what this is. it's an Olivia reading quilt and pillow.
I love the Olivia books and I think this quilt turned out pretty darn cute.
Here's the back, in this instance I'm not trying to be trendy just cover up a blemish on the fabric.
